Course Outcomes for Students

1.Understand how businesses can maximize
    return on core technologies through a total
    technology life cycle management perspective.
2.Understand the range of options for translating
    core technology into customer value.
3.Identify and address the risks inherent in the
   commercialization of technology.
4.Construct a marketing plan for a technology
    or technology firm.

Approach

The course approaches the material at three levels:

Theory: For each topic the theory will be introduced through lectures, class discussions,
and selected readings from the academic and professional literature.

Guided Application: Students will acquire application practice through exercises and case
analyses.

The Market Plan: You will be asked to develop a marketing plan for a technology company
that you're interested in studying, or develop a marketing plan for a technology that you would
like to take to a market. The marketing plan will be built in stages over the semester, after each
topic is concluded. During the semester, you'll be asked to present your plan as it takes shape.
