Other Course Policies

Attendance:

For on-campus students: It is expected that students will come to class on time and attend every session. Attendance is important because students are responsible for material covered in the lectures and class discussions as well as the readings.  If you know in advance that you must be absent from a class, you are asked to contact the instructor to be sure to learn about any important announcements or other activities you need to be aware of. Attendance is included in the course grade.

For distance learners: It is expected that distance learners will participate in class activities each week. Participation is important because students are responsible for material covered in the lectures and class discussions as well as the readings.  If you know in advance that you must miss a week, you are asked to contact the instructor to be sure to learn about any important announcements or other activities you need to be aware of. Attendance is included in the course grade.

Timely Submission of Assignments: Timely submission of cases and exercises is equally important.  Generally, these assignments are discussed in class on the day they are due or, for distance learners, on the conferencing system immediately following the submission date.  If the assignment is submitted after that, the student does not benefit from doing the assignment on his/her own, and he/she is given an unfair advantage over others.  To compensate for this unfair advantage, late assignments will be accepted with a reduction of five points for each session missed.

Disabilities:

Vanderbilt is committed to equal opportunity for students with disabilities. If you have a physical or learning disability you should ask the Opportunity Development Center to assist you in identifying yourself you to your instructors as having a disability, so that appropriate accommodation may be provided. Absent notification, your instructors assume that you have no disabilities or seek no accommodation.
