Guidelines for Presentations and Reports

Content

  • Use the tools from the lectures appropriately, not mechanically. They are not always
    appropriate in every situation.

  • Avoid "generic" responses (e.g., to develop a market
forecast, I would use trend analysis and market modeling.).

  • If you don't have the answer to a question, provide a roadmap for
how you would obtain it, but be specific.

Interim Presentation Contents and Timing:

  1. Brief Introduction - description of the technology, significance of the problem (1-2 min.)

  2. Body of the Report (10 min. - 5-10 slides at 1 minute per slide) Include in your presentation areas that you would like to have the class discuss (problems, ideas, etc.)

  3. Class Discussion - questions, answers, feedback (5 minutes)

Midsemester Report Contents

For Marketing Plans, the report will cover Sections 1-6 (Market Analysis).

For other team projects, the contents of the report will be determined by the project's Scope of Work Agreement. Ordinarily, it should include at a minimum:

  1. A summary of secondary research results
  2. The data capture instrument (see Suggested Contents of Data Capture Instrument), sample and data collection plan.
  3. A summary of preliminary results, next steps, problem areas, and proposed solutions.

Supporting tables and graphics are encouraged. Provide a full citation of any outside sources used. (For citation format, see Turabian.) PowerPoint notes from the presentation are acceptable for the midsemester report.

Final Report Contents

For Marketing Plans, the report will cover Sections 1-12. Sections 1-6 may require modification to accommodate more recent research.  For other team projects, the contents of the report will include any deliverables listed the Scope of Work Agreement. Again, supporting tables and graphics are encouraged, and all outside sources should be fully cited. The Final Report must be a Microsoft Word file, using 12-point font. There is no page limit.
